The ELISA-anti-CANDIDA IgA, IgG, IgM kits are aimed at the quantitative determination of IgA, IgG and IgM class antibodies against the mannan and glucan sequences of the Candida albicans cell walls in human serum. Mycotic infections belong to the most frequent illnesses of man. Species of the genus Candida, such as C. albicans, C. glabrata, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicalis, C. krusei, C. dubliniensis, etc. are facultative pathogens causing opportune infections in people, whose immune system is compromised (HIV positive patients, post-transplantation states, malignity, etc.). The species belonging to the genus Candida are the causes of 79 to 85% of the nosocomial mycoses and contribute to the mortality of these with a probability of approx. 50-60%. Candidosis manifests itself mostly in one of the following forms: mucocutaneous/superficial or hematogenous disseminated candidosis. In healthy people, C. albincans is part of the sapprophytic flora of the gastrointestinal and vulvovaginal tract, as well as the oropharinx. C. albicans is the cause of candidosis in not less than 67% of individuals having a compromised immune system; the mortality in case of a systemic disease is 30-40%.
